The Projects
  • Presentation of a replica Saxon sword to the Athelstan Museum at Malmesbury together with a short video of the making of the sword and its use in Saxon times. The sword is being created by Hector Cole. An Audio/Visual System costing almost £2,000 has also recently been approved by the Foundation Committee and total funding for this project is £7,400.
  • Presentation of an embroidered Tapestry depicting King Athelstan to All Saints Church in Kingston upon Thames – as part of their Seven English Saxon Kings Project. Budget £15,350.

The Sword
Filming of the video outlining the symbolism and significance of 'The Sword' was completed in October and the finished video is now awaited. No further progress on the making of the Sword due to the pandemic. The Sword Loan Agreement to the Athelstan Museum has been prepared and will be ready for signing later this year.

The Grand Master will present the Sword to the Athelstan Museum in 2021.

The Embroidered Tapestry
The Tapestry depicting King Athelstan, as part of the 'Seven English Saxon Kings' project by All Saints Church Kingston upon Thames was completed in March 2020 and full payment has been made by the Foundation. The display cabinet for the tapestry will be completed soon and be mounted on the East Wall of the Church. A formal presentation by the Grand Master is planned for some time in the future.
