On Friday the 18th of August, W.Bro. Bob Hancock, the Provincial Grand Senior Warden, and I battled our way through the storms to attend the meeting of The Court of King Alfred the Great in Winchester. On arrival we received a warm welcome from the Brethren of the Court.
Present was our Deputy Provincial Grand Master, V.W.Bro. Mark Donovan, KAG., as well as the Assistant Grand Master, R.W.Bro. Charles Aspinell, GCh, GCAG, a member of the Court, seen here with our Provincial Marshal, W.Bro. Duncan Maguire, who acted as Marshal of the Court for the afternoon.
The meeting was opened by the Worshipful Master, W.Bro. Anthony Green, who welcomed everyone to the Court.
Our Deputy Provincial Grand Master, accompanied by a good number of Provincial Officers entered, accepted the gavel, and took the Chair for a few minutes. He was saluted with five under the direction of the Deputy Provincial Marshal, W.Bro. Micky Wiles. V.W.Bro. Mark responded accordingly. He introduced the Provincial team who had accompanied him on his visit, thanking them for their support for both him and the Court.
The Deputy Provincial Grand Master was invited to present a Grand Court Certificate to Bro. David Bunn, which he did in a most informative manner.
The main item on the agenda was to install as Worshipful Master, Bro. Peter Jack. This was done in a very sincere manner by the Worshipful Master, assisted by V.W.Bro. Mark who delivered the Installation Address.
After the Officers of the Court had been appointed and invested the Brethren of The Court of King Alfred the Great and their guests received a talk entitled ‘Ancient York Masonry’ by Bro. Clive Egerton.
The Court was then closed and after some photos were taken…
…we retired to the bar for refreshments…
…before sitting down to a most enjoyable meal at the City of Winchester Freemasons Hall.
