The Annual Meeting of the Province was held at Nutfield Masonic Centre in Redhill on Saturday, 2nd April 2022 with presiding officer RW Bro Lionel Broadbent Mee KCAG, Provincial Grand Master.
A total of 75 brethren attended, which included members from many parts of the Province plus guests and visitors from Grand Court, the Provinces of Dunmonia, Essex, Kent, and Wessex, and other distinguished Brethren.
We were honoured to receive RW Bro Charles Jonathan Aspinell, GCh, GCAG, Assistant Grand Master, who was warmly welcomed and greeted according to ancient custom.
The Right Worshipful Provincial Grand Master welcomed and introduced the 20 visitors and other distinguished brethren, Heads of Orders, their Deputies, and members of the Executive within the Province which comprises Hampshire & Isle of Wight, South Middlesex, Surrey, Sussex, and The Channel Islands. Also present were RW & Em Bro Christopher Ansell, Past Assistant Grand Master who is the present Eminent Grand Prior, and RW Bro Brian Prevett, Past Provincial Grand Master.
The Provincial Grand Master thanked VW Bro Mark Donovan KAG, for his dedication and support since our last Annual Meeting in April 2019 and was pleased to re-appoint him as Deputy Provincial Grand Master.
He then invested the Provincial Officers whom he had appointed for the ensuing year and conferred Past Provincial Grand Rank on a number of other well-deserved brethren.
He thanked all the members for their dedication, and continued support of the Order during the period of the pandemic and it had been a great pleasure to visit all Courts since the resumption of Masonic activities in September last year when he had been warmly welcomed on every occasion.
A schedule of Official Visits for the coming year is being finalised and will be issued to the newly appointed Active Officers who are again invited to join him and Deputy VW Bro Mark on these visits.
The Provincial Grand Master thanked Provincial Secretary W Bro Richie Bratton, and Provincial Treasurer W.Bro. John Hickman for their contribution and diligence; he also thanked his Provincial Marshal, W.Bro. Chris Eley and his team who did such a splendid job today, Deputy Grand Organist, W.Bro. Matthew Burt, Guest Organist; and W.Bros. Martin Smith and Satish Dhir for assisting with photography.
Sixteen new members had been instructed into the Order since the last Annual Meeting and membership is currently around 190. The Province consists of 10 Courts.
The meeting was followed a pre-lunch drinks reception, after which 58 members and guests enjoyed an excellent and convivial Festive Board.
