On Wednesday the 27th November the Court of Harrow Way No. 88 was honoured by a visit from the Provincial Grand Master, RW.Bro. Lionel B Mee, KCAG. The meeting was held at the Surrey Masonic Centre, Guildford. Also present was the Deputy Provincial Grand Master, W.Bro. Mark P Donovan, and the Past Deputy Provincial Grand Master, VW.Bro. Michael D Ellis, both members of the Court.
As unfortunately some of the members of the Court were unable to attend the meeting some of the Offices were covered by visiting Provincial Grand Officers.
Here we have W.Bros. John Billett and Martin Smith acting as Wardens; and W.Bro. Colin Stanley kindly acted as the Court Deputy Marshal.
The Court was opened by the Worshipful Master, W.Bro. Graham Elis. The Provincial Grand Marshal, W.Bro. Chris Eley, was admitted and advised the Worshipful Master that the Provincial Grand Master was in the ante room and demanded admission to the Court. The Provincial Grand Master entered in procession with a number of Provincial Grand Officers, was presented with the gavel and took the Chair.
The Provincial Grand Master was saluted with 7 under the direction of the Provincial Grand Marshal. The Provincial Grand Master said how good it was to be visiting the Court of Harrow Way and introduced the Provincial Team. The Provincial Grand Master thanked all those who had attended the last Provincial Meeting and mentioned that the 2020 Meeting was to be held at Nutfield.
After the Provincial Grand Master had taken the minutes and vacated the Chair a ballot was taken for W.Bro. Derek Williamson to become a joining member. This proved in his favour and W.Bro. Derek was welcomed into the Court of Harrow Way by the Worshipful Master.
Next on the agenda was the installation of Jonathan Murdoch as Worshipful Master. The Worshipful Master invited W.Bro. Simon McCarthy to occupy the Chair and Bro. Jonathan Wiles was installed into the Chair of King Athelstan by W.Bro. Simon. The Brethren were then instructed to hail, greet and recognise our new Worshipful Master in the Chair of King Athelstan with acclamation by RW.Bro. Lionel Mee while W.Bro. Mark Donovan gave the Installation Address in a faultless manner.
The Provincial Grand Master congratulated W.Bro. Jonathan on being installed into the Chair of King Athelstan and wished the new Worshipful Master a most enjoyable year. The Provincial Grand Master was invited to present a Grand Court Certificates to Bro. Russell Johnson. This was done in a most interesting and informative manner.
Bro Martin Dunham was invited to give a most interesting talk on bees and his hobby as a bee keeper. After the Court was closed we retired to the bar.
The Brethren of the Court of Harrow Way and their guests then sat down to a most enjoyable meal at the Surrey Masonic Centre.
