On Monday the 4th November the Court of the South Saxons No. 60 was honoured by a visit from the Provincial Grand Master, RW.Bro. Lionel B Mee, KCAG. The meeting was held at the Ferring Village Hall, Ferring. Also present was the Deputy Provincial Grand Master, W.Bro. Mark P Donovan.
Before we could start the meeting the members of the Court had to turn the village hall into a Lodge room.
Here we have the Master Elect, Bro. Micky Wiles working hard...
And our Provincial Grand Secretary was also seen with his sleeves rolled up working hard.
Once everything was set up the Court was opened by the Worshipful Master, W.Bro. Ricky Prior. The Provincial Grand Marshal, W.Bro. Chris Eley, was admitted and advised the Worshipful Master that the Provincial Grand Master was in the ante room and demanded admission to the Court. The Provincial Grand Master entered in procession with a number of Provincial Grand Officers, was presented with the gavel and took the Chair. An In Memoriam was conducted for W.Bro. Roy Holder, PProvSGD, who passed to the Grand Court above in July and the Brethren stood to order in memory of departed merit.
The Provincial Grand Master was then saluted with 7 under the direction of the Provincial Grand Marshal. The Provincial Grand Master said how good it was to be visiting the Court of the South Saxons again, introduced the Provincial Team and vacated the Chair.
Next on the agenda was the installation of Bro. Michael John Wiles as Worshipful Master. Bro. Michael Wiles was installed into the Chair of King Athelstan by W.Bro. Ricky Prior. The Brethren were then instructed to hail, greet and recognise our new Worshipful Master in the Chair of King Athelstan with acclamation by RW.Bro. Lionel Mee while W.Bro. Mark Donovan gave the Installation Address in a faultless manner. Bro. Tony Beldam was invested as Senior Warden and Bro. Frank Ffitch as Junior Warden.
The Provincial Grand Master congratulated W.Bro. Michael on being installed into the Chair of King Athelstan and wished the new Worshipful Master a most enjoyable year.
The Provincial Grand Master was invited to present Grand Court Certificates to Bros. Simon Aston and Frank Hobbs. This was done in a most interesting and informative manner.
After the Court was closed we gathered together for the customary group photograph while the catering staff turned the Temple into a Festive Board.
The Brethren of the Court of the South Saxons and their many guests sat down to a most enjoyable meal at the Ferring Village Hall.
