On Wednesday, 27th February at the first Installation meeting of the Court of Sion Abbey No 126 since the consecration last year, W.Bro. Martin Smith, Primus Master, installed Bro. George Rodger as the next Worshipful Master of the Court in an excellent ceremony and with great dignity.
The Provincial Grand Master RW.Bro. Lionel Mee attended the meeting on his Annual Visit to the Court, escorted by W. Bro. Mark Donovan, Deputy Provincial Grand Master-designate on his last outing as Provincial Marshal before the Annual Provincial Meeting next month. Also accompanying the ProvGM were the following Officers of the Year - W & Em Bro Paul Rose, Provincial Prior, and W.Bros. Leslie Grout, Bob Hancock and Chris Cradock; Provincial Banner Bearer, Provincial Burgh and Provincial Guard respectively.
The Provincial Grand Master presented Grand Court Certificates to Bros George Fraser and John Mellor in a most interesting manner.
The highlight of the meeting was the presentation of an excellent and well researched Paper by Bro Martin Beard entitled 'The Rosetta Stone' which was received with acclamation by all those present. The Master W Bro George expressed the delight of the brethren for Bro Martin’s diligence in preparation of his paper and the Provincial Grand Master requested a copy of the Paper for sending to Grand Court. 18 members and visitors later enjoyed an excellent Curry at the Festive Board at which the usual Toasts were honoured.
