The Installation meeting of the Sword of Constantine Court No.120 was held at the Croydon Masonic Hall on Tuesday 9th October 2018. The Court was honoured with the presence of the Deputy Provincial Grand Master, Michael Ellis, KSM, PGSwdB, and a number of Provincial Officers of the year.
The Court was opened by the Worshipful Master, W.Bro. Chris Eley. The Provincial Grand Marshal, W.Bro. Mark Donovan, KSM, was admitted and advised the Worshipful Master that the Deputy Provincial Grand Master was in the ante room and he demanded admission to the Court.
The Deputy Provincial Grand Master entered in procession with the Provincial team and was welcomed by the Worshipful Master. The Deputy Provincial Grand Master was then presented with the gavel and took the Chair. He said how pleased he was to be visiting the Sword of Constantine Court again. He then introduced the Provincial team, took the minutes and vacated the Chair.
Next on the agenda was the installation of Bro. Terry Carpenter as Worshipful Master. The Worshipful Master invited W.Bro. Paul Rose, Provincial Eminent Grand Prior, to act as Senior Warden, W.Bro. Colin Wilson, Provincial Grand Burgh, to act as Junior Warden and W.Bro. Andrew Sales to act as Captain of Guards. Bro Terry was installed into the Chair of King Athelstan in an excellent manner by W.Bro. Chris Eley. He was ably assisted by W.Bro. Leslie Grout, who was invited to take the Chair after the Board of Installed Masters was declared, and did a splendid Traditional History of the Order. W.Bro. Chris then invested Bro. Terry with the Badge of an Installed Master and the Jewel of his Office and installed him in the Chair of King Athelstan. The Brethren were then instructed to hail, greet and recognise our new Worshipful Master in the Chair of King Athelstan with acclamation.
The Deputy Provincial Grand Master congratulated W.Bro. Terry on being installed into the Chair of King Athelstan and wished the new Worshipful Master a most enjoyable year. He said how well the Ceremony of Installation had been conducted by W.Bros. Chris and Leslie, along with the Officers of the Court. Special thanks must go to W.Bro. Mark Donovan who, as well as performing his day job as Provincial Grand Marshal, also acted as the Marshal of the Court.
After the meeting the Brethren of The Sword of Constantine Court and their guests sat down to a most enjoyable meal at the Croydon Masonic Hall.
