Seven Meetings of Courts within the Province were held during the Period 1st April to 30th June 2018.
COURT OF SION ABBEY No 126 - Twickenham, Middlesex Wednesday, 18th April 2018
This was the first Regular Meeting since the Court was consecrated on 28th February this year with Primus Master W Bro Martin Smith presiding. He welcomed R W Bro Lionel Mee, Provincial Grand Master who was attending on this special occasion.
The main business on the Agenda included the Instruction of 2 new members into the Order: Bro Dmytro Dupchienko and Bro John Mellor. The Worshipful Master and Officers of the Court carried out both ceremonies in an excellent manner and the Provincial Grand Master congratulated W Bro Martin and all those who participated in the ceremony for their polished performance of the Ritual.
The Provincial Grand Master presented Grand Court Certificates to a number of the Founders and wished them well for their future in the Order.
An excellent festive board followed the meeting.
COURT OF KING ALFRED THE GREAT No 79 – Winchester, Hampshire, Friday, 27th April 2018
The Worshipful Master W Bro Simon Wright opened the Court at 6.00pm.
A new candidate Bro Paul Berridge was elected to membership and he was duly instructed into the Order by the Worshipful Master assisted by his Officers.
The next meeting of the Court will be on Friday, 15th June and will be an Official Visit by the Provincial Grand Master.
COURT OF HARROW WAY No 88 – Guildford, Surrey, Tuesday, 22nd May 2018
The Worshipful Master - W Bro Alan Ellis opened the Court at 5.00pm.
Bro Russell Johnson, a Resident of Guernsey, was instructed into the Order by the Master assisted by his Officers.
Bro Russell thanked the brethren for their warm welcome and said how much he had enjoyed the ceremony. He was now looking forward to introducing two other brethren from Guernsey – who will be instructed into the Court of King Alfred the Great in Winchester and the Sword of Constantine Court at Croydon in the near future.
15 members and visitors attended the meeting and 13 later dined at the Festive Board.
THE ROOD AT SUDTONE SARI COURT No 106 – Sutton, Surrey, Thursday, 24th May 2018
W Bro Satish Dhir, WM opened the Court at 5.00pm. No candidates for Instruction.
The Master had previously advised that a rehearsal of the Instruction Ceremony would be undertaken An enjoyable meeting followed by a convivial Festive Board.
The next meeting will be at Sutton Masonic Hall on Wednesday, 3rd October 2018.
COURT OF WIHT-LAND No 123 – Ryde Masonic Hall, Isle of Wight, Friday, 8th June 2018
Official Visit by the Deputy Provincial Grand Master.
Primus Master W Bro Colin Wilson opened the meeting and welcomed V W Bro Mike Ellis, Deputy Provincial Grand Master on his Official Visit to the Court. He was accompanied by a number of the Active Provincial Officers and Escorted by Deputy Provincial Marshal W Bro Mark Gannaway. The court had held several rehearsals of the ceremonial and the Instruction ceremony for the candidate Bro Paul Simon Wray was carried out in an excellent manner.
Bro Roger Huntley and W Bro Michael Fuller were elected Master-elect and Treasurer-elect respectively and will be installed and invested at the Installation meeting on Friday, 14th September 2018 – when it is hoped that another brother will be welcomed into the Order.
V W Bro Mike Ellis congratulated the Master and all the brethren for an enjoyable and successful meeting.
COURT OF KING ALFRED THE GREAT No 79 – Winchester, Hampshire, Friday, 15th June 2018
Official Visit by the Provincial Grand Master Worshipful Master Simon Wright opened the meeting and welcomed the Official Visitor R W Bro Lionel Mee, Provincial Grand Master who was accompanied by a number of the Active Provincial Officers and escorted by W Bro Mark Donovan, Provincial Marshal.
A Eulogy for the late R W Bro John Lloyd, Deputy Grand Mater was given by the Provincial Grand Master and the brethren stood to order in honour of departed Merit.
The Master and his Officers carried out the ceremony of Instruction for Bro Graydon Bennett from Guernsey and Bro Mark Denton from Hampshire in a very polished manner and they were congratulated by the Provincial Grand Master for the excellent ceremony.
Bro Ian Parsons and W Bro Matthew Burt were elected as Master-elect and Treasurer-elect for the ensuing year.
The next meeting will be the Installation meeting on Friday, 17th August at Winchester.
COURT OF ÆLLE No 25 – Herstmonceux, East Sussex Saturday, 23rd June 2018 - Installation Meeting
W Bro Alan HOBDEN, Master, presiding The brethren stood to order in memory of the following:
R W Bro John LLOYD, Deputy Grand Master – died 10/06/2018.
Bro Joseph Sutton – died in March 2018 after resigning some while ago due to ill-health. Eulogy by W Bro John Phillips
Bro Eyo NKUNE was installed Master by the outgoing Master, W Bro Alan Hobden. The new Master then appointed and invested his Officers for the year, among whom Bros Michael CONN and John FULLER were invested as Senior and Junior Warden respectively and W Bro Robert CHRYSTIE was invested as Treasurer for a further year.
Next meeting of the Court will be on Saturday, 13th October 2018.
